Outer Banks Camping Trip

Oh goodness...what a great weekend! It was definitely time for another camping trip and some quality family time. This trip was to the Outer Banks. We managed to fit a WHOLE LOT into a short period of time! =)

Friday, the boys had early release at school so we hit the road mid afternoon.

"Popcorn fields" - that's what the boys called these. We all got a good giggle out of it and made sure to explain what it really was.
Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful

We got to our campsite and had to set up in the dark but we managed pretty well. Saturday was a busy day.....Wright Memorial and Jockey's Ridge.
Morning calm time - working on puzzles together
Chocolate chip pancakes + milk. It's like dessert for breakfast!
Hi Coley!
We went to see the Wright Brothers Memorial and Museum.

The boys got their Junior Ranger books and worked to earn their badges.

As part of their Junior Ranger work, we explored the first flights of the Wright Brothers.

Love my Dudes
We watched a very informative presentation on the first flight.

The gentleman giving the presentation did a great job.

Can not imagine how the Wright Brothers felt when they were able to fly. They could never have imagined what we have today.

This cracks me up.

For whatever reason, the boys decided they would plank on the sidewalk and "hide".

Love this picture!

After lunch, we headed to Jockey's Ridge for kite flying and sand rolling.

Kite lesson from Daddy
Unfortunately our snow boards did not slide very well on sand.
Kite lessons

The cuteness!

Finally found an area steep enough to slide.
They had a great time and were pooped out from the busy day.

Sunday morning we had some game and reading time while Daddy went in search of coffee. Then we packed up the camper and headed to the Aquarium before hitting the road home.

Dweebies - best card game ever.
Loved Eli reading to Cole while I packed up. I love that they're best buddies.

Didn't get a picture of the camper in place....this had to do before we left. =)
"Don't feed me to the shark Daddy!!"

Eli was ready to be fed to the fake shark.

Very cool watching the divers. Loved that they communicated through writing on a board.

I saw this on the back of a bathroom stall door. Snapped a picture because I knew the boys would love it...you know poop humor. And they did!

Such a fun weekend!! I love tons of pictures!
