Boys love mud puddles

As if we didn't know that already! Tonight we let the boys run around in the back yard after dinner and they went straight for the mud puddle - a side benefit of all the rain we've gotten this week. I knew Eli would go for it but was surprised at how Cole jumped right in and had so much fun. They ran, played, jumped, sat, splashed and just thoroughly enjoyed the puddle and being dirty. The fun ended with us hosing them off to get them clean enough to come inside for a bath. Just look how happy they were. Brothers with a mud puddle - life doesn't get any better than that!

Eat, Play, Sleep, repeat...

The toddler life right? Our weekend was full of eating, playing and sleeping. The pictures tell the stories best.....

EAT
Saturday morning Cole enjoyed a pop tart at the big table. We decided to try him at the table with a paper plate similar to how he eats at school. He did great!
Eli being silly at breakfast.
Cole loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with cheetos on the side.
Oh yeah, and a cookie for dessert. Sweet face!!

PLAY
Ryan came over to play with Eli Friday night and those boys were CRAZY!! Tim said they tackled and rough housed each other laughing like silly boys. When I got home from yoga, they were running around downstairs pretending to sword fight with foam.
Giving both my boys an old fashioned "airplane" ride.
Saturday afternoon we went to our friends, Dean & Sheila's, for their housewarming / Sheila's belated birthday party. This is their daughter Amanda - isn't she a cutie?! She started loving on Cole as soon as we walked in. It was adorable. She gave him several big hugs and stayed close. Guess I've got two Ladies Men on my hands!
Playing in the sandbox
Cole got in on the sand action too. Eli actually shared the toys with him.
Cole decided to try to climb up the little slide.
But he kept sliding back down.
The swing set got quite the workout. Eli had fun on the glider. Here he looks like he's trying to calm a bull or a horse. Whoaaaa Nellie!
Little boy joy
Cole also enjoyed swinging.
Their baby swing is different than ours and Cole loved the "lazy boy"ness of it. He just lounged back and ate his snacks.
One of their calmer (and sweeter) brotherly moments.
Mommy and her boys - self portrait. They're both little cyclops!
Sunday morning we met Ryan and Carol at the playground for some serious play time before the rain came in.
Cole is trying his best to hang with the big boys. He was able to climb this ladder to the structure.
I cannot believe how big these two have gotten. Such great buds - Eli & Ryan.
I love this picture. They explored a little in the woods together. Actually I think we went on a fake lost ball hunt. The ball was never lost - it was on the playground!
Dancing while making cookies with Mommy. And I just LOVE those little boxer briefs. So cute!
Halloween preview - since his birthday, all Eli has talked about is dressing up as Buzz Lightyear so we got him a costume. He loves to dress up at home so it will see LOTS of use.
Buzz Eli - wings and all. To Infinity and Beyond!!!

SLEEP

Eli in his new Monster Truck pjs. Change of season means change in clothes. Probably will have to do another pj fashion post soon!
Saturday afternoon nap - Eli & Buzz, sacked out.
Cole is such a great sleeper these days. He gets antsy when we're reading him stories so we ask him if he's ready for bed and he shakes his head Yes. Put him in his crib and he's done. Amazingly easy....for now!
So by the end of nap time, I guess Buzz had kicked Eli out of bed as I found him balled up on his floor.

Both boys were pooped out Saturday night after the party. Cole went to bed immediately upon getting home.

It was a busy fun weekend. I should probably take better lessons from the boys on the simple things in life - eat, play, sleep, repeat. Speaking of, time for sleep - I need to get my rear in bed. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Overheard

Oh my goodness, I'm hearing lots of funny stuff around here these days.

Eli: "Carrot in Spanish is Cheeto" - while I was packing carrots for my lunch this morning.

Eli: "Pigs are my favorite animal because they like to play in the mud with me."

Cole: "me, me, me, meeeeeee" - he's practicing his opera.

I'll have to try to capture more as they're said. So many funny things get said around here that I don't remember them all. Life sure is fun with 2 little crazy boys!

I Pledge Allegiance

Update

The problem with not updating the blog soon enough after the weekend is that all the days run together, another work week starts and I forget all that we did. Let's see what I remember.

Friday night - I got nothing. I can not remember what we did. I'm certain that we hung out at home. Saturday was a lazy day - lazy in that neither Tim nor I felt like exercising so decided that we would run errands and hang out all day. Sunday we went on a bike ride at Umstead - I pulled Eli for 13 miles. Yes, 13 miles up and down all those hills! If I can keep that up, I'll be super biker chik in no time. Cole also got new shoes Sunday.

Sunday night wasn't that great. Cole was up late coughing and finally settled down around midnight after I made him a home cough medicine concoction. Then Eli was up at 1am throwing up. Tim got him settled and then Eli was up again at 3am doing the same thing. That time required a total bed change. By the time Monday morning came around, we were exhausted. Cole ended up being sent home from school at 9am with a fever so both boys were at home Monday. I had planned on taking Eli to the jobsite with me but he ended up staying home with Cole & Daddy. We survived Monday and got the boys to bed early. I even crawled in bed with Eli at 7:45pm and came downstairs at 10pm to really go to bed. Then Tim was up at 3am sick and then a few hours later again. UGH! Cole & Tim stayed home again today and, for now, everyone seems better. I sure hope so!!

Eli & Mommy - riding break
Snack time - my cute boys
They love when we stop and let them out to play.
Cole got upset about something and Eli was so precious trying to console him.
Eli loves riding. Pretty soon he will be on a trail-a-bike and have to help with the work.
Cole just wanted to be back in his trailer with snacks.
Cole loves coloring time at home and at school.
We had a little bit of time where the boys colored together at the table. It was wonderful.
Monday morning sick crew
