Week Nineteen: 5/11-5/17

A lot happened this week that I didn't photograph. One of the funniest moments was when Cole lectured us on not disrespecting the ice cream. Apparently you've got to respect the ice cream and eat it. No wasting. =)

Monday was a "you're another year older moment" for me. I realized that, on that day, it had been 19 years since I graduated college. 19 years! The time has flown by.

Tuesday's meat pickup - this is what 40 pounds of ground beef looks like. Time to get processing!
Wednesday morning silliness before school
I think I've mentioned before THEY decide to dress alike quite often.
Thursday morning, super early, I went out for a run/walk. I was amazed at how early the bus drivers get started - I think this was about 5:45am. Safety checks and then start their day.

Friday was FIELD DAY...a whole lot of outdoor fun. I did a completely separate post on Field Day with more pictures but these are some of my favorites.
Determination during tug-of-war

My sweet Kindergartener - he loved his first field day
Mr. 2nd grade

After Field Day, I stayed and had lunch with Eli (Cole's class had already had lunch)

Saturday brought karate for Cole, he also went to a birthday party, Eli had a swim assessment for the Y year round team and a family trip to REI.
Paw Patrol party for Jeffrey
Cole was SUPER excited when the Game Truck showed up

Swim Assessment - he did great and they were surprised that he'd never swam on a swim team before. AquaTots for the win!

Sunday we went to church, picnic'd in the back yard, the boys played with water and then we went to the last Healthy Kids Series race.
After church with their buddy Samuel who was baptized today.
Family back yard picnic

Earned his medal

I think they were happy to be finished. They did a lot to earn these medals - so proud of them!

Week Eighteen: 5/4-5/10

Star Wars Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Lots of cookie making and decorating, Movie night and and Mother's Day. Busy week....trying to come up for air!

MONDAY: Star Wars Day - May the Fourth Be with You. I had to do something fun for the boys.
This is what they found on the kitchen table.
Monday morning with Legos - yes please!
I had also ordered them Road ID to wear when we are in very public places and/or on vacation. They thought it was cool to have IDs like Mommy & Daddy.
Butter anyone? I started making sugar cookie dough for all the cookies I had to make / decorate this week.
Cookie mess
It was a late night....why is this sideways?!

TUESDAY:
Whittling practice before school
Our new playroom rug came!
Mr. Technicolor socks - bright orange (Eli)

WEDNESDAY:
Cookies that I made for our boys' old pre-school. The Director contacted me and asked if I'd make some for Teacher Appreciation week. I agreed but didn't realize it would be the same as OUR school's teacher appreciation week....I may have over-committed. Who needs sleep?!

The theme was 'Our Teachers are Stars". They always look much more professional when bagged and tagged. The best part is that they are pretty AND yummy - that's not just my opinion, it has been independently verified. =)

I saw this on Wednesday and it rung so true for me. My Grandparents love story is my favorite. Grandpa always called Grandma "Baby" and you could ALWAYS see his love for her. They are definitely the most romantic love story and my heroes.

THURSDAY: And we moved on to Dr. Seuss cookies!! Mind you these are due at school on FRIDAY! I ended up leaving work early on Thursday to make sure I got them finished and that they could dry enough to be bagged. There were well over 100 Seuss hats. I was quite happy with how they turned out.
Cookies with their base outlines
Royal icing....yum
Flooding the icing didn't take too much time since it's an easy designs and simple colors.

See what I mean...bagged with a note, looks like a pro!

A big box of sugar love for all our teachers.
This is a tote bag that a friend and I tag-teamed. She went to school and got the kids fingerprints on it and did the writing. I made a felt Dr. Seuss hat and sewed it on. Eli's teacher loved it and we think it turned out great!

FRIDAY:
For the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week, we put together these candy buckets for the boys' teachers. They were a hit!
Sweet Cole came home with a Mother's Day Muffin story and muffin mix for me.

No pictures but Friday night, we went to Barnes & Noble as a family. It was funny because in the store we realized that buying the boys a book and hanging out at B&N is cheaper than hiring a baby sitter. And we get to do something enjoy. Win!

SATURDAY: A busy day that included a Scout hike for Eli, play time at a friend's house for Cole and we ended it with Movie Night on the new playroom couch watching 'Wall-E'. The boys thought it was hilarious that Wall-E's girlfriend was Eva. Cole has been calling me that non-stop in the robot voice.

SUNDAY: Mother's Day! But wait, every day is Mother's Day. The boys woke me up with hugs, kisses and a gnome. I loved the gnome. They picked it out for me at Lowe's. We haven't named him but will and he will protect us on the front porch. We went to church and then tried to go to Defy Gravity (we went last year and it was so fun). It was not to be - they were closed. Cue sad groans from the entire truck. So we made the most of it and hung out at home. The boys watched tv and let me catch up on some sewing.
Love my boys...and my new gnome.
Pretty flowers
Prop photo station at church.
Eli wouldn't play with us.
 Finished blanket for little Jennings
Love the initials instead of his full name.
Bunch of boy burp cloths. I've heard from folks that they love these b/c they're soft and they work. Yay!
