This morning, Eli's school had a Boosterthon Fun Run to raise money for covered walkways at school. The Kindergarteners and 1st graders were set to run at the same time and of course, I had to go watch. It was the coolest thing. These kids were SO pumped up and excited to run. They were dancing, cheering and having a great time. The theme was Highway USA and over the week or so leading up to it, they talked about choices and good decisions along the Highway. They also tried to raise money from every state in the US - and they succeeded! The goal was to run 25-35 laps and they all had Fun Run t-shirts for the event where their laps were marked. Eli's class was the "King's Men" and they were awesome! Eli ran like a crazy boy and I had to make him stop to get water. When he got to 35 laps, I stopped him and took a few pictures thinking they would stop them at that point. I was wrong, he kept going! He ended up running 42 laps - over 2-1/2 miles - and ran the most of any Kindergartener! He was so proud of himself and I was proud of him! And best of all, the Kindergarteners ran more laps than the 1st graders!!
Fun Run!
Eli's class lined up waiting to come through the tunnel
They announced each class and they ran through the tunnel just like teams / athletes.
Hey Mommy!
Just making sure you're still there.
Walking / parade lap
Time for the countdown
And they're off!!
It was fun watching Eli run. He would get focused and try to pass other kids.
Just like an official race picture. =)
Look at those red cheeks!
35 laps done!! Over 2 miles.
And then he kept going!
Eli's class. He was upset that he hurt his finger and his friend was trying to make him feel better. So sweet!
Post fun-run, having some fruit inside.
42 laps!
In his Fun Run t-shirt and glasses that he earned with his pledges.
