Spartan Sprint - Trifecta Race 1 of 3

Today was the start of Tim's Spartan Trifecta Quest for 2015! 3 Spartan Races, 3 Different Distances, 1 calendar year. It was fun to be along for the ride. This year, it seemed easier that Tim race and make his Trifecta goal while I took care of the boys and let them do the Spartan Kids races. So that became our plan. We were super happy that Grandma C could meet us for the race today! We made it a quick day trip - down to Porter Farms, near Concord and back. It wasn't too bad. And after being outside all day, the boys were really good in the truck on the drive home.

We always like to select morning start times. We can get there before too much traffic, get parked and race before the day gets away from us. We got everyone checked in with plenty of time to enjoy the race atmosphere and activities.

A litte pre-race action:
Eli has been jonesing to do a Spartan race. So excited!
This was SUPER cool - got to see and meet Tara Costa from The Biggest Loser. I loved her on the show and she was really nice in person. She talked to the boys and wished them luck on their race.
Cole is a tire flipping machine.
Just like his Momma - built strong.
Our Little Spartan Kids
Eli did great climbing the rope - he had an audience before it was over.
Kid's just strong.
Of course, Cole had to try too.
But again, he's like his Momma. We're strong but not enough to pull ourselves up.

I think this is cheating Cole. Give me burps!
Trying the BIG HUGE tire with Grandma.
I love this picture!
And then he's off to scale a wall.

Watching the grown up race.
I let Cole see my phone and found some funny selfies later.
My Spartan boys - still clean.....for now.

Cole + Eli selfies.
Hi Cole!

Love Grandma!!

Tim's start was really close to the Spartan Kids race start so we left him and headed over to the Kids area. At their age, Eli & Cole are supposed to be doing a 1/2 mile course. I know they could do much longer but it's a fun distance with good obstacles. If they fail an obstacle, the penalty is 5 burpees (instead of grown up 30 burpees!!).
Pre-race briefing
Spartan Bros
I thought this was cool. The kids rope / angled wall was right beside the adult rope / angled wall.
And they're off!
Of course, Eli had to get the hole-shot.

Over / Under / Through.

Balance Beam - the only place either boy had to do burpees
and it was Eli - see him there? He managed to keep his lead.....barely.

Leader of the course....with an escort.

Mud pit

Eli was the 1st finisher of this "heat".
Good job Buddy!!
Here comes Cole.
Want a hug Mom?!!
Really....I have to go through this big mud pit?
Notice, Cole didn't jump in the way that Eli did.

P-U-L-L!!

Up and Over!
Great job Cole!!

A happy muddy finisher's hug from my two Spartan Kids.
So much fun - so proud of them!!
They loved it!

Spartan Bros!

After the boys' race, we were off to the course sideline to wait for Daddy. He was doing the race solo today (Joheliah races tomorrow) so we had to keep our eyes out. But we found him!

High fives!

Once Tim finished this obstacle, Eli called him over to tell him that he had won.
Tim wasn't quite sure he heard him right and asked again. Sure enough, Eli was 1st!
Telling Daddy about their adventure. Of course, I braved the water house and changing tents to get them semi-cleaned up. Love their "Finisher" shirts.

Cole needed a little break. =)
Waiting for Daddy
Nap time on Grandma.
Tired Spartan
We found him again!! This time at the rope / angled wall near the end.
All Good!!

Pull Daddy!!

One last obstacle - gotta be a mud pit!

YAY Daddy!!
Spartan Sprint Finished!!
