Today it rained.....and stormed......and rained some more.....on our 2nd day at LegoLand. So very thankful we had a good sunshiney day yesterday. But all was not lost! We managed to have an awesome adventure of a day!
In a small moment of Mommy genius, I had packed the boys rain coats with us on vacation. Forgot mine & Tim's but had the boys. So on our way to LegoLand, we stopped at the store and invested in some semi-heavy duty ponchos for Tim and I. (Good thing b/c our Coleman ponchos were the same price as disposable ones at LegoLand!) The morning started off just gray and dreary - showers here and there. Not enough to dampen our fun but enough it closed down all the rides (especially the fourth and final coaster that I promised Eli we'd ride first thing), well actually the rides never opened. We hoped and hoped but the rain came down. We did re-explore the entire park and then decided to take in another 4D movie. Once inside, it stormed like crazy! Like lightning and thunder storming! They pretty much shut down the park (like lock down style!) and we were all holed up in the theater. We were so thankful to be in there. The power flickered a few times and the movie equipment quit working so we basically hung out and had snacks until the main part of the storm blew over. Then we ventured out to see what was open to do. We managed a few rides - a fireman ride spraying a building and riding in trucks. But not much else was open.
Overall it was an adventure today. The weather threw a kink in our plans but we still had fun. At the end of the day, on our way out, we let the boys visit The Big Store and pick out something to take home. We couldn't convince them to get a shirt or hat, they were only interested in Lego kits and mini-figures. We also picked up a few birthday gifts for some Lego-loving friends.
We had such a great time at LegoLand. Would have been great to have nice weather for two days but at least we got one. Hopefully we can make it back down there one day. I'm excited to know that I'll have a roller coaster partner in the future!
We could not get enough of MiniLand - it was amazing!
Iwo Jima Statue - out of Legos
How cool would it have been to build these?!
We had to check out the Star Wars Legos more
And love on R2D2
And hang with Darth Vader
Can't forget Darth Maul
Triceratops made of Legos
A new Lego pal
Eli finally got Tim on a ride - this one they had to pedal to go higher
Eli chose to enjoy it and make Daddy do most of the pedaling!
This was a coaster car like Eli & I rode in.
We rode it on this coaster. No coasters today in the rain but we did enjoy this one yesterday.
Albert Einstein Lego sculpture - Tim's 6' tall so you can see how big it was
Lego Soccer Giraffe
Batman and Robin and Eli - three super heroes!
Cole's mini-meltdown, didn't last long but I had to take a picture b/c that's what I do. =)
So fun seeing and posing with the characters
Cole's favorite bus!
Daytona 500 Lego Fans
B-I-G Lego Man in the Lego Factory
B-I-G Lego Man was super cool
Mommy had to get a picture too!
Thankfully during the rain, we found Lego Duplo Village
A completely covered playground!
Farm and tractor fun - was good for the boys to run around
I couldn't stop taking pictures of all the Lego statues
Cole finally got interested in the "rides"
He was so excited to drive Daddy around in the rain
And, obviously, Daddy was so excited to be there. Cole kept looking back and asking him if he was ok. It was so sweet!
LegoLand is exhausting!
Super cute!
Lego Build in the camper - we can build Legos anywhere!!
The boys were collecting acorns they found, putting them in a sand bucket. After the all day rain, Eli decided to dump them on his head. Yep, muddy boy!
Cole was not thrilled when Eli threw mud and acorns on him. Their faces are hilarious!
