Memorial Day - nice to start the week off with a holiday and the day off work! We spent some time at the pool on Monday (in the chaos) and the boys had fun playing in the water. Other than that, we enjoyed a productive day around home - definitely a good idea to come home Sunday night and have Monday at home not fighting traffic.
At home, the boys went frog hunting and captured these two frogs. Thankfully I was able to convince them to release them. It was either that or have frog legs for dinner. =)
Tuesday was a bit of excitement for me. It's no secret that I love George Hincapie. He is now a retired American professional cyclist. He was always called "Big George" and was a solid rider with a great reputation. He recently came out with a book and I absolutely pre-ordered it so it would arrive on the release day. It came in the mail today and I posted a comment on his Facebook page. I about FLIPPED OUT when he replied!
I totally flipped out when I got this notification in my FB feed!
Oh my gosh! I don't care if it was "one of his people" - it was a response from his account. My brush with cycling celebrity! Hopefully one day we'll get to his Gran Fondo and maybe, just maybe, meet him in person!!
Thursday I attended a Principal's meeting at Eli's school and then surprised him with a visit during lunch.
Saturday was PARTY day! Cole was a party animal celebrating two of his friend's 5th birthdays. First up was Victoria's party at Pullen Park and then Will's at his house in the afternoon.
Cole, Chloe and Cullen off to have fun
Carousel
Train ride!!
Of course Cole had to drive the boat. He was telling everyone that it wasn't really going and all about the chain in the water that had the boats connected together. Smarty pants!
Had to do the carousel again
Birthday girl Victoria
When we got home from the party, Eli and Cole decided to make their own Warrior Dash obstacle course in the back yard. Gotta admit, they did a pretty good job! They keep asking us if they can go with us to the race next year. Eli and Tim may even do one of the buddy mud runs this fall.
Ready.....set....
GO!! Complete with our red warrior hats.
Cole's turn!
Their course. Great job dudes!
Then it was time for Cole to head to Will's party! Will had a water party at his house and it was "boys only". They all had so much fun. Water guns, sprinklers, pool, water balloons...how could you not?!
This was Will's special birthday pillowcase since he was having a Monster truck party.
As much as Cole loves the Mr./Miss books, these were perfect to give to his friends.
This was the strongest piƱata ever! It took the longest time to break it.
Happy Birthday Will!!
Wild and crazy bunch of boys!
Buds - Will and Cole.
