Today we chose to stay "close to home" and explore the park. We covered a lot of the "ing"s today - hiking, kayaking, swimming, eating, playing. =)
The day started with the boys asking Grandpa to build them a fire. It was a great start to the day. I loved hearing them ask for stories and make up ones of their own.
We had breakfast and then finally got all moving. This day was all about fun and adventure with no huge agenda or timeframe to be somewhere. So we started with a hike....
My two sweet boys.
Precious.....just precious!
It is SO gorgeous here!
Eli took off exploring off the trail, at the lake's edge. He & Cole both loved doing that near Grandma & Grandpa's campsite.
Oh the smelly crawfish claw. Eli carried this thing ALL the way back out of the woods and off the trail. It stunk SO bad and made his hands stink AND made my hat stink because he had touched it. When I see this picture, I can immediately remember the smell! But he was so proud. =)
Exploring with Grandpa (I think he had just as much fun as the boys!!)
And of course, Cole's legs wore out.
When we got back to camp, the boys found this vine to swing from.
It kept them occupied for quite a while.
Tarzan!
After lunch, we rented boats. Tim & I took the boys out in kayaks but they ran out so Grandma & Grandpa rented a canoe. It was so nice and calm out on the water. The boys enjoyed it but they weren't much help - just riding along with no paddle of their own! Tim & I could have stayed out there much longer but the boys were done by the time our hour was up. It was super fun to just go out and hang out in the middle of the lake. Grandma & Grandpa rocked it in their canoe and had fun with us.
A good thing he's cute....he wasn't any help paddling!
My little sweetie (Notice his poor burned lip....an aggressive Smore's eater.)
Go Grandma & Grandpa!!
Chillin' in the lake.
Such a great view!
After we turned our boats in, we headed to the beach. There was a great park area with lots of grass to hang out / picnic on. This afternoon it was THE place to be. Looks like a lot of locals come out for picnics and to play in the water. When it's free, why not?! The boys had fun playing with their tubes and splashing each other.
Oh my goodness, I can imagine this exact same picture in the future......chillin' in the water.
Splash fight with Daddy.
Easy to see who won.....Cole the fearless retreated. =)
Grandpa hanging under the tree.
We had so much fun wearing the boys out....I mean playing....in the water. We also saw a group playing water football. Have never seen that before and it looked like hard work! After swimming, we headed back to camp for dinner and baths. These boys were stinky!!
A little Mommy activity surprise.....the boys had to do a fossil dig and see what they had.
Serious business for our future paleontologist.
Eli uncovered a golden Mummy and Cole found a dinosaur.
Lovin' Pinchot Park!
Cole's pose cracks me up.
It all started when I asked him to show me his "guns" meaning his muscles. He in turn, literally showed me his guns!
Post bath - having fun at Pinchot Park!
And more Smore's....
These two have fully embraced the Smore's part of camping. =)
Grandma brought some sparklers for the boys to do.
They've never done them before so it was a fun end to the evening!
