Vacation Day 2 - Saturday.
The weather today was a little cloudy, overcast and rain seemed imminent. We opted to use the icky day to go to Indian Echo Caverns. We took a leisurely start to the morning and then headed to see the caverns. The caverns were so cool to see and I think the boys enjoyed looking at all the cool rock formations. Our guide (Bill I think) was so awesome. He seemed to be the most energetic and enthusiastic of any we saw. The tour was about 45 minutes and packed full of information and beautiful sights. I tried to take pictures but they just don't do it all justice. It is amazing to see God's creation.
After the cavern tour, the Eli and Cole really wanted to gem mine. We tried last year or the year before and they weren't interested but this year was totally different. They were both really into it and loved seeing what they could find. We bought gem bags, coin bags and a random treasure bag (something of everything). I can't say enough how much fun it is to watch them discover new things and to be part of their fun experiences.
When we got back, the boys were pooped out and we all took a rest / late nap. That gave them the energy they needed for dinner and their long awaited campfire and Smore's.
Early morning puzzles with Grandma & Grandpa
Snuggle and play time.
Waiting for our turn at the caverns
IEC - Indian Echo Caverns
Our guide told us a story and this formation was said to be the crocodile's mouth.
Such beauty!
There was a lake in the cavern.
This was really cool. In another story, this was said to be a wedding cake - I can totally see the icing!
Time for gem mining
Found a coin!
Cole was really into it.
Look at my gems!!
Great picture with Grandma & Grandpa at the gem mine. Cole's face cracks me up, not sure what he was doing.
Late afternoon nap.
Family dinner
Time for a campfire!
And Smore's!!!
Definitely their favorite part.
Grandma & Grandpa - we're so glad you're here with us!!!
