Ok, so technically only Cole had tubes put in but we're all happy about it. Yesterday morning we got up early to be at the surgery center at 6am - Cole's surgery was scheduled for 7:30am. Eli was so funny when I woke him up; his first words were "I'm staying home with Daddy." Got him up, everyone ready, in the truck and on our way to get relief for Cole. I was surprised at how many people were at the surgery center that early in the morning. We got checked in and then were called back to pre-op. There the nurse checked all the charts, talked to us and then the anesthesiologist came to talk to us. After that it was just waiting for the doctor to arrive. Eli was quite an angel through all of this, thanks to a newly purchased portable dvd player and a dvd of 'Word World' (LOVE that show!). Once the doctor and his nurse arrived, they talked to us for a second and then Dr. Stan carried Cole back to the operating room. Where does the DOCTOR actually take the patient back? Tim, Eli & I went back to the waiting room and about 15 minutes later, Dr Stan came out to talk to us and told us Cole did great. Turns out he had an ear infection in both ears when they put the tubes in. Last Wed, he only had an infection in the right and the left looked great. Now, a week later and being on antibiotics, the infection was in the left ear too. That confirmed for us that we had made the right decision to get the tubes put in. A few minutes after that, the nurse came out to get me to go see Cole in recovery. He was one mad little boy!! Coming out of the gas, he was cranky and fussy. He didn't want a bottle or anything. He did fuss most of the way home but that was short lived and then he was happy as could be. Yesterday Tim stayed home with him and they had a pretty good day. Last night was also pretty good for us - he slept much better than he has been with only one bottle and the other times he woke up, he was able to soothe himself back to sleep. Cole was able to go to school today and they said he had a fantastic day and was very happy. While he was a happy baby before, I have noticed he's much happier. And that, in turn, makes Mommy happy!!
In pre-op, check out those cute jammies!
