Weeks are FLYING by! Lots of fun with school, swim and Scouts this week. Let's go.....
MONDAY: Picked up some Mr. Bubble to surprise the boys. Cole was so excited that he took a hot bubble bath at 5:30pm right after getting home from school. It was the cutest thing. Eli had swim practice so Tim stayed home with Cole and I went to swim during Eli's practice. It was bad. Like really bad. My worst swim in a LONG LONG time. I just quit in the middle of it. I've never done that before but it was necessary. Thankfully I did rally and have some great swims later in the week.
Extra Gentle Mr. Bubble =)
Alligators, Army men, Paw Patrol, Sharks - gotta be careful in a bubble bath.
Since my swim was cut short, I got to watch a lot of Eli's practices. He is crazy fast to be 9 years old.
Cole did some drawing Monday night while home with Daddy. He has such a vivid imagination. I told him that he should make comic books one day. Maybe?
TUESDAY: I had to get to the chiropractor. My back was so sore from being on deck at the swim meet all weekend. I'm not used to standing up for 12-13 hours. It's a good thing I went because my lower back was really compressed. I'm not sure how Tim and I survived before chiropractic care!
Got my new 2017 Rulebook Tuesday. Funny since that's why my back was sore. =)
I saw this on Wednesday and thought it's so true. We define what's important to us and what success is.
Finished up Eli's Ulysses S. Grant costume on Wednesday. Excited for his Living Wax Museum.
THURSDAY: Today's excitement was the 4th Grade Living Wax Museum. Each child made a trifold board with research of their selected person. Eli chose Ulysses S. Grant. They each and a "push me" button on their table and when you pushed it, they gave a speech about their historical person. I was so proud of Eli. He did great in his speech and must have given it 30 times in 45 minutes. The other grades came through as well as all the parents. I saw him plus Steve Jobs, Cleopatra, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Albert Einstein, Jane Goodall, James Cameron, the Wright Brothers and so many more. All of the students did great!
Ulysses S. Grant
Cole's class got to come in
It's like the 4th Graders are the "big kids". Super cool that the other grades got to see.
Friday at school, Eli & his class got to enjoy popsicles and popcorn as a celebratory treat for all their hard work.
I think I was cooking eggs and thought it was cool who the oil made a heart in the pan.
While Eli was at swim Friday night, Cole kept wrapping himself up like a burrito, rolling around and asking me to help get him out. Crazy boy.
SATURDAY: Super busy, super fun day!! Swim practices, Cole's Pinewood Derby and the NC State swim meet.
6:30am, 34 degrees - Eli & I both headed to go swim.
After both boys swim practices, Cole & I went to get donuts.
Changing things up! The boys have finally discovered what I already knew - vanilla icing and Oreo cookie crumbs makes for a very yummy donut!!
After practice and donuts, Cole had to put the wheels on his Pinewood Derby car. Lesson to all: you put the wheels on VERY last.
Putting axle powder on the wheels so the axles go in perfectly straight. This Pinewood Derby thing can be hard core.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tapping the axles in.
Ready to go check his car in - Hammerhead Shark
Weighing it - has to be under 5 ounces. I think he was exactly 5 ounces.
Checking clearances.
Explaining what equipment was used to make his car. #1 piece of equipment = Daddy.
Track all set up and ready to go. Must say that Eli didn't want to make a car this year. We just came for Cole's group - the derby was all day.
Cute little Cub Scout.
1st race, Cole's in Lane 4.
Finished in 2nd place! That was his best race and best time.
Didn't win any speed awards but did get an award for the "Coolest Car"
Yay Cole
Daddy & Cole - a great team!
After the Derby, we hung out for a bit and then headed to NC State to watch the State Men's and Women's Swim & Diving teams take on UVA for their last home meet of the season. NC State has super awesome swim teams. Ryan Held was on the Gold Medal Relay team for the USA and Anton Ipsen swam for Denmark in the Summer Olympics in Rio as well. They plus other teammates have also been swimming as part of the ArenaPro Series. Super cool to see such amazing athletes in person.
Calm Wolfpack water
Team cheers and chants before the meet starts
We were pretty close to this. Fun watching them get all hyped up for the meet.
This was funny. I think it was the 500 freestyle event and Anton Ipsen was in the Lane 3. The first few laps he didn't have a counter. I told Tim that he was just going to be so far ahead that he'd get the bell and win it. His counter did step out eventually but he did get the bell and win the event. Amazing swimming by all.
Watching Ryan Held dominate the 200 freestyle.
Ryan Held signing autographs. The boys got soooo close a few times but didn't get an autograph. Very cool for them to see an Olympic medal winner though.
After the meet. The team was warming down. Both the men's and women's teams won. Go Pack!!
The Women's Meet was amazing. It came down to the final event. The 200 yard freestyle relay. NC State had to win the relay to win the whole meet. 2nd place and they'd lose. So loud, so exciting and they won!!
After that busy day, we were all tired!
SUNDAY: We went to church and then went to AquaTots where the boys took swim lessons. We were helping them with some audio and video testimonials. Pretty cool. We really love the folks there - they did such a great job. After that, it was home for dinner and then Cole had a birthday party to go to for his classmate, Isaac. It included a Game Truck so he was thrilled!!
In the game truck. It holds 28 people and they have a lot of different screens and games to play.
This one was pretty cool. You drive a car to play soccer in a dome. The boys loved it.
While he was at the party, I ran to Harris Teeter and did some shopping and then meal prep. Big salads ready for lunch each day this week. Hoping they last all 5 days.
