Week Thirty One: 7/28-8/3

This week was a good one.....started with cold air! Our hvac unit was repaired on Monday so that was  wonderful!! It was nothing major and we ended up just needing to replace the thermostat. Something inside it had messed up and was short circuited. Nice to have air conditioning back!

Tuesday I took the day off to head to Charlotte for a meeting. Before heading home I was able to meet up with my favorite State Trooper, Joheliah. We've known each other since Middle School and played basketball together in High School (she was the Team Star, much better than me but that was totally ok!). It has been great to be friends this long and watch her achieve her dream of being a State Trooper. She played Collegiate Basketball (I got to watch her play a few times when I was at NC State - her college played at Meredith each year) and then went into the National Guard. After that, she was accepted into Trooper School and I was privileged to be at her Trooper Graduation in 1998. I'm SO proud of her. She's up for a promotion and will soon be a First Sergeant!!

 Hope she doesn't stop you!
So thankful to remain friends over the years!
Y Camp - one of the pictures they posted on Wednesday. It's fun to see pictures of the kids having fun throughout the day. They have on idea how lucky they are!!

Thursday was a fun day. First, WE MADE OUR LAST DAYCARE PAYMENT!! Woo hoo!! After 6-1/2 years of daycare payments, we wrote the last check that covers the month of August. Cole starts Kindergarten at the end of August so he will be a full time Elementary School student after Labor Day. Thank you Salary Increase!

Hard to believe this day is finally here!

Thursday night was Family Night for Y Camp. Eli loves going to the Family Night events and seeing all his friends. I love his enthusiasm. This one was especially fun because it was a Pool Party. The counselors played with the kids, had games, songs and dances. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and the boys were tired when we got home - makes for easy bedtime. =)

Our little fish, water loving boy
Mr. Blue Eyes. He's loving the water more and more.
 Dance Party!

The kids had so much fun.
Eli and his friend Cameron pal'd around the entire evening. The two of them play so much at Y Camp. Cameron is my kind of girl - she's athletic, sporty, not a girly girl and sweet too! Love her Mom bunches. Her brother will be starting Kindergarten with Cole next month and they'll all be at After School together!

Saturday morning, the boys were so funny. Since they are only allowed to watch tv on Saturday and Sunday, they always wake up ready to watch something. Well, on this morning, they didn't ask for cartoons. Nope, instead they asked to watch the recordings of American Ninja Warrior. And we LOVE IT! We love that they want to watch athletic stuff and want to be like these strong athletes. We love that they look up to the Ninja athletes and Spartan races instead of professional athletes. Don't get me wrong, not all professional athletes are idiots (we just hear a lot about the ones that are!). But the chances of anyone becoming a professional athlete are very slim. Finding something you're passionate about and having fun doing it, that's fun stuff. The boys love watching and cheering for the normal everyday folks attempting the American Ninja Warrior course - ok, so maybe they're not so "normal", they're insanely skilled and strong! There seem to be some really good stand up people on there. And that's refreshing. So they watched several episodes, rooting for their favorites, guessing how far they'd make it and talking about the obstacles. They even asked Daddy to build a warped wall in the back yard! I think this is just the start of discussions for a Ninja Warrior / Spartan obstacle course in our back yard. Bring it on - Woo hoo!!

This is the Warped Wall - it's 14 feet high!! (Ours won't be that high of course)
