Game 7: Nuggets vs. Jazz
This morning was Eli's last basketball game of the Y season. His first basketball season and his first time in an organized sport was such a great experience. Today they played the Jazz - a team they had not played before. Coach had challenged them to play their best game of the season and they definitely did! They have all improved so much in just two months.
After the game, we had a small team "ceremony" where Coach Steve spoke about every team member and gave them a hand written note from himself (priceless) and their basketball trophy. Eli was pretty excited to get his 1st trophy. It was also fun to hear Coach say that Eli is and will be a good player if he keeps working at it, mention Cole being a great cheerleader and that they all loved the sign we made for the team. The team also enjoyed a "Go Nuggets" cookie cake and presented Coach Steve with an autographed (by the kids!) soft trophy for such a great job as Coach. I can't imagine any other coach I would have wanted Eli to have. He was great teaching the kids the basics, letting them have fun and enforcing sportsmanship over winning. Such a great experience!! We're already looking forward to next year....and Mommy might help coach. =)
Before the game, Eli & Matthew (#9) were playing a little one on one...
they were challenging each other
and Eli has really gotten much better in a short amount of time!
