Mommy + Cole weekend

Meanwhile......back at home, Cole and I had a fun filled 24 hours together. He was bummed that he couldn't go with Daddy & Eli but I promised him we'd have a good time. Saturday night, we had a date at Chick-fil-a. He even got to eat ice cream and play on the playground.

Sunday morning, we went to church and got to deliver our Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. The older the boys get, the more fun it is to pack them and track where they go across the world. We really want the boys to understand that not every Country is like ours and we have an opportunity through this to make other boys and girls feel special, let them know that someone cares about them and that God loves them. Getting our letter from Kondwani made it so real for them. They could see that a real boy in another country got their shoebox. Next year, hopefully we'll do more boxes and pick up things throughout the year. Church is all decorated now so it takes us extra long to get in and out as the boys love to watch the trains and look at all of the decorations.

After church, I had promised Cole a trip to the museum. But first we had to have lunch. We went to Jason's Deli and he was able to get a cheese pizza. Then we were off to the museum. This boys LOVES dinosaurs and really loves this museum. Every time we go, it's like the first time he's ever been. I think as he gets older, he sees new and different things each time. And it was really special to make this visit just about him and whatever he wanted to do. There was a special dinosaur exhibit that we made time to go see as well. Lots of large dinosaurs, information graphics and a dinosaur dig at the end. Oh yeah, and a gift shop! Lots of bartering there but I finally gave in to a bag of dinosaur figures that he could play with at home.

After we got home, he was definitely missing Eli but it was a fun time together. Those two love each other and are the others' best friend. They definitely get on each others' nerves but wouldn't know what to do for too long without the other. Love my sweet boys!!

Friday night, Chick-fil-a date.
This year's letter in our Christmas shoe boxes. (Specific details blurred because, you know, the internet is huge!)
Filled with lots of goodies and love
Exciting to imagine where these will go and the little boys that will open them. =)
Mommy's helper. Unfortunately Eli missed out on delivering them to church this year.

Cool displays at church for the holidays. New this year....a train overhead! The boys love that one.
After church, we had lunch at Jason's Deli before heading to the Museum of Natural Science.

Most definitely, Cole's favorite museum.
He loves all things Dinosaur and says he wants to be a Paleontologist.

They had a special dinosaur exhibit. Cole enjoyed that a lot.

Especially the dinosaur fossil dig!
Our little Paleontologist at work.
But Safety First! Love the orange goggles!!

Checking out the bees - I love this cute boy!

My sweet buddy

Checking out his hand under the scope.

Always back to dinosaurs!

Barely headed home and he was tuckered out. Snoozing with his treat from the museum - some little dinosaur figures.

Tim & Eli's Scout Adventure - Virginia Air and Space Museum

While Cole & I were having our adventures at home, Eli and Daddy went on a Scout Camp-In at the Virginia Air and Space Museum. They left Saturday after Eli's basketball game and spent the night there. Theirs was not the only Scout troop there so I think it was a bit crazy! They were able to explore Saturday afternoon and evening, learning about Air and Space vehicles and also working on their own Rockets for the Launch on Sunday. Apparently Eli stayed up REALLY late - as in 11pm!! He and Tim slept under the nose of an airplane...how cool right?!

Sunday morning, they had lunch and then did their Rocket Launch. Eli had so much fun and was proud of his rocket when he got home. He was dragging a bit after staying up so late but they had a great time. Who else gets to sleep in a museum?! Cole is ready for his turn at Scouts next year so he can go with Eli and Daddy.

Since I wasn't there, I have to rely on pictures that Tim took. He actually took more than I expected, making me one happy Momma!

Working on their rockets

I hvae no idea what he's doing but his face is priceless.

Late Saturday night.
