Week Thirteen: 3/24 - 3/30

The fun thing about doing the blog as "Project Life" is that I can remember all the fun normal everyday things we do. Life is to be celebrated and even though we all run into bad / hard days, life certainly is good!

This week.......some of the regular stuff, Scouts on Monday night for Eli and Tim. Tuesday morning, Eli had to get a little cavity filled. I worried that it would be a scary experience for him but they had a tv on the ceiling! He got to watch a movie while getting dental work done! Why can't they do that for grown ups? And I'll take a side of Nitrous with my next dental work too. =)

Laid back in the chair waiting for the dentist - see the tv way up there?! He got to watch 'Frozen' while his cavity was filled.
Glad he doesn't freak out at the dentist.

Wednesday night, I tried a GravityFit class with my friend Becky. The unfortunate thing is that the class started at 8:30pm and was an hour long. That put me up way past my bedtime that night! Defy Gravity has this class after they close each night (and on Saturday mornings before they open) and I was excited to try it out. It was a much harder workout than I expected! 6 minutes in, Becky & I looked at each other and were certain we'd fall over before class was over. Thankfully it wasn't constant jumping and we did other exercises too. Some tough arm work doing push ups and planks on the trampoline. It was a great workout and even though we jumped a bunch, it didn't hurt my knees since the trampoline was a forgiving "floor". I realized how much of a workout it was on Friday morning when literally my rib cage fat hurt!! Definitely want to go do it again sometime. I was also excited to check out the place because this is where Eli wants to have his birthday party (and the verdict is YES!!).

There was a section of square trampolines in front of the instructor. We were on these rectangular ones - one person per trampoline.
YAY!! Becky & I made it through class.

The boys had swim Thursday night and Friday was a busy day. I was subpoena'd to testify in a Federal Civil Suit stemming back to a mediation I was part of at my previous company. The good news is that I got a little break from leaving the house early so I had an hour in the house to myself!! The bad news is that I testified for SIX hours with only three 5-minute breaks. LONG day! If the case ends up going before a jury, I was told that I'd get a plane ticket to Chicago....probably in January. Lovely. Just where I want to be in the dead of winter. Some other details of our Friday......
The boys are like tornados. I snapped this picture to show the pre-school morning mess they left me. Our house only stays picked up when they're sleeping....but there's plenty of time for a clean house later. =)
Eli's school is doing "Art to Remember" for a fundraiser. I am such a sucker for my kid's artwork! How could I not buy something?! Look at that awesomely cute underwater scene Eli created!
Friday night a little peeler bead action. Cole & I were in the dining room
and Eli made a huge mess in the kitchen.
Nice bowl head Eli - Yo Yo!!
Bedtime silliness and dancing in the bathroom before brushing teeth.

I took these pictures in the mirror to catch Cole's faces.
He's not the biggest tooth brushing fan but we've come a long way from when he would gag on us when we brushed his teeth (and he also threw up at the dentist when they did).

Saturday was a busy fun day without many pictures. We went to the Y in the morning. Cole's soccer game was cancelled due to rain so I did a swim and Tim lifted. After lunch, Cole's friend Wyatt (and his Mom) came over to play. It was great because the boys played upstairs nicely and Jenny & I were able to hang out on the couch and chat. I don't take much time to slow down and hang out so it was long overdue for me! Tim ran a few errands and ended up finding a bookcase for Eli's room and as soon as we got in in there, Eli took it upon himself to set all his stuff up on it. He was so proud!
Big boy and his new bookcase

Today was a super fun day. After church, we picked up Eli's friend Evan and brought him home with us for the afternoon. I remember growing up that going home with someone for the afternoon after church was such a treat. The boys each made their own lunch (homemade pizzas), they played A LOT and then we made cookies. Eli was the "Ingredient-er", Evan was the "Instruction-er" and Cole just wanted to eat chocolate chips! It was so much fun making cookies with three sweet helpers. We even introduced Evan to the joys of cookie dough!!

Making their pizzas

Such great buds!! Evan is kinda like the 3rd Nelson boy. =)
All our pizzas
They were really yummy (and easy) - we'll definitely do this more often!
Introducing Evan to Perler beads. He made an awesome octopus creation to take home. (As I type this, it sounds like summer camp at our house. I assure you it is not all the time! Just keeping them busy.)
Who wouldn't want these helpers in their kitchen?
Watching it go 'round and 'round. Waiting semi-patiently for their cookie dough.
Nice hot chocolate chip cookies - YUM!
Oh yes....this Tiger Cub Board. Tim "volunteered" to do a board for the Den meeting tomorrow night. He said he was just going to throw some pictures on the plain white tri-fold board he bought. Seriously?! This former scrapbooker was NOT going to let that happen. So tonight, I did my own "project" and made the board for tomorrow's Den meeting. Some of the other parents emailed pictures and somehow it just all came together. I must confess I was annoyed at Tim for waiting until the last minute but I think it turned out pretty good!

Week Twelve: 3/17 - 3/23

What a week! A lot has happened so let's hit the highlights by day.

Monday - St. Patrick's Day!! Cole had his green party at school and he asked me to come so of course I did. =) They had all kinds of green foods - cucumbers, pickles, broccoli, cookies, donuts, mint chocolate chip ice cream, green punch.....you name it, they had it! Sugar, sugar and more sugar!! While I went to Cole's party, Tim picked Eli up from school because his school cancelled all after school activities due to weather - wintry mix, low temps and potential ice. Joy. The weather came in later than expected so Eli and Tim still went to Scouts and I took Cole to a make-up swim lesson. Busy night for us all!!

 My little leprechaun
 Picking out his donut
Cole's friends at his table
"You Mommy!" - Cole is hilarious with his pointer finger acting like a little gun point to you.
His 2nd half of a donut - I think it's his favorite food group.
 There's his finger again.
So sweet!

Tuesday - ummmm, yeah. Not my favorite day of the week now!! Two weeks ago, we had snowy weather with schools closed and today....ICE! Eli's school was closed (as was the district I work in) so I was at home with him and planned to go in later. Tim took Cole to school and a short time later, I got a text that said "Just crashed my truck". My heart dropped! No sooner had I read that than Tim called me (he had tried calling a few times but I think my ringer was turned off or something). He came across an icy bridge and when his tires hit the pavement, it shot him directly into the guardrail. Apparently he spun around and was even on one side at some point. The side airbags went off but the front one did not so the truck thought it was flipping over. Eli and I quickly drove out to find him and it was really really icy. Eli was so sweet because he just wanted to get out of my truck and hug Daddy. While we were waiting for the police to arrive, we saw several other cars have trouble on the same bridge. I ended up taking Eli back to our neighborhood to hang out with his buddy Owen and then headed back to Tim. When I got back, the policeman was finishing up with him and we waited for the tow truck. We went to the collision center, filled out all the paperwork and by that time, it was time for lunch. We grabbed a quick burger (mini-date) before picking Eli up. Phone calls to the insurance company, reserving and picking up a rental car and looking at potential vehicles on the internet.....it was a busy day. We picked Cole up early and Eli told him all about the accident. I was very happy to have everyone home safe and sound. So very very thankful that Tim wasn't hurt in his crash. He's just a little sore and stiff - will go see our chiropractor. And very thankful that no one else was involved in the accident.

 A very sad Sport Trac
 Taking its' last ride
on the wrecker - had to have a roll back, no towing here.
This is the craziest picture to me. Tim skidded on this side of the truck. Like probably two wheels in the air. Oh my!
I've never seen airbags deploy but thankful these did. Tim probably would have hit his head had they not come down. SCARY!!
At the collision center. I swear it looks like his truck is frowning. =(

The rest of the week was pretty normal....as normal as it can be when you're in a rental car (a Hyundai!) and trying to figure out what is going on.

Friday we found this mini-boat that the boys made. It had three bad guys
and a bunch of stolen money and a computer. My imaginative boys!

Saturday was a nice day! We spent the morning doing house chores waiting for Grandma & Grandpa N to arrive. They were back from 3 months in Florida (snow birds!) and we were hoping they'd bring the warm and sunshine to us. They got here about lunch and then we headed to Cole's soccer game. 3rd game, I was hoping the 3rd time would be the charm. He did awesome!! He participated in the entire practice and a good bit of the game. He didn't make it through tear free - not sure what that's all about - but he did awesome while he was in there and even scored his team's 1st goal!! I don't think he realized what happened and got emotional when everyone was yelling. I think he thought he did something wrong. We had a few teary episodes but he did so great compared to the past two times. He went in there and was a bruiser. One time I told Tim that he'd be the only 4 year old to get a Red Card! He wasn't scared of anyone and ran his little legs off. So proud of him! I think Grandma & Grandpa enjoyed watching the game as well.

 Little soccer boy
He looks so dang cute in his uniform
Eli & Cole were chasing each other and playing one-on-one before the game. Cole would just pull Eli down to the ground and take off to the goal!
Coach Matt - he's great with the kids and Cole has really taken to him.
 Dribble drills
 Kick practice into the goal
 Passing with a teammate
 Whew!
During the game, they don't understand "same team" yet. They just go for the ball!

 Go Cole!!

This was right after his goal. Coach wanted to give him five but I don't think he realized what happened. SCORE!!
 Go Watermelons!
He rallied after this and played more. I just make sure he's ok and not hurt then let him get it out. I get frustrated if he's crying for no reason and Coach (or Daddy) seems to bring him out of it better than me.
Post game playground time - Eli is a monkey.
Cole was excited to try the "zipline"
He asked several times during the game if he could play on the playground - super happy now!

Thanks for coming up Grandma & Grandpa!!

After the game, Tim and I headed to go buy one of the trucks he had driven Saturday morning. It's amazing how fast it all can go once you decide to buy. We were at the dealership for less than 1-1/2 hours and Tim drove away with a Ford F150. I think he's pretty happy with his "new" truck. Definitely an upgrade!! The boys were super excited and kept telling Tim that he could take it off road. They've listened to one too many Ford commercials!

 Daddy's new ride
 My pickup man
"Y-E-S!!" They were super psyched about the F150.

After dinner (thank you crock pot!), Grandpa treated us all to ice cream. We tried to get Sunset Slush but apparently it went out of business so we headed to Goodberry's.

Silly boy in the way back seat. He was so giddy tired that he just laughed at himself.
Ice cream cone with sprinkles. Cole ate the sprinkles off and gave it to Daddy to finish.
 Chocolate with sprinkles.
Love that chocolatey face!

Today was a pretty calm day. The boys & I went to church this morning while Tim & his Dad checked out our camper and made plans to do some repairs. We spent the afternoon being lazy - it started raining....again - and temps dropped. I did some work and the boys watched tv and played. Nothing exciting but we needed a lazy afternoon after the week we've had!!! The weather forecast has been calling for more wintry weather on Tuesday. Really starting to not like Tuesdays!! I'm ready for warm weather and the rain to stay away for a bit. Fingers crossed we don't get more mess this week. And if we do.....you'll find us ALL at home!
