Week Eight: 2/17-2/23

Thankfully no snow to report this week! Instead, Eli had to go to school for a Make-Up day on Monday (it was supposed to be President's Day holiday). The boys had a dentist appointment on Wednesday - Eli was a champ getting his teeth cleaned and checked. Cole did ok, he was a little fussy at first but made it through. He'll get better as time goes on I know. We did find out, however, that Eli has a cavity so we've got an appointment in about a month to get it fixed. I know Eli won't like that appointment. Hopefully it will encourage him so we don't have any more. And, thankfully, it's in a baby tooth but one that he won't lose until he's about 12 or so.

This weekend, Grandma C came to visit. She hasn't seen the boys since right after Christmas so she was ready to get up here and see her grand babies. She got here Friday evening and the boys were super excited to see her. Cole especially has been counting down since he was "grounded" this week - no tv all week. He couldn't wait to watch Saturday morning cartoons with Grandma. So while they were hanging out and watching tv, Tim and I ran off to have a breakfast date. It was unbelievably nice. Breakfast is my favorite meal to go out to eat (I'm not too big on going out) and this time was especially nice because we got to eat our food while it was still hot, we didn't have to prepare it, we didn't have to get up and get something for a little person, no one called us "Mommy" or "Daddy" and when we were done, we just got up and left - no dishes or cleanup! After we ran a few errands and checked out a thrift store I'd been wanting to see. Saturday night, Tim and I disappeared again....this time to the mall so I could make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar - my Saturday night date with Giuseppe. I've been having trouble with iPhoto on my computer. It won't open and that is an issue for this Momma who takes TONS of pictures and loved the quick edit and organization of iPhoto. Turns out I have a bad file somewhere and I've got to recreate all my libraries. It is going to take a long time but at least my photos aren't lost!! I'm already thinking of some better organizationals strategies to make blogging easier and to eventually create our blog books (it's on my "eventually" list!). Saturday, I must admit, was a really easy day for Tim & I. We pretty much checked out of being parents and let Grandma do all the work. Thanks Grandma!!!

Grandma ended up going home Sunday at the same time we went to church. We hate that she couldn't stay longer but were super glad she came to visit. After church, the weather was gorgeous so we went on family bike ride around the lake.

Week Seven: 2/10-2/16

Ok, I have had enough of snow / ice / early dismissals / no school days for the year!! Tuesday Eli's school closed an hour early with no after school activities so I had to hustle and pick him up. We then picked up Cole so we'd all be home safe and sound (a few years ago, lots of students and teachers got stranded at school and a lot of people had trouble getting home on the roads). Once I picked Cole up, wintry precipitation started coming down so I called Tim and told him he should head home. In less than 2 hours, our front yard was completely white. It was crazy!

Schools were closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! My work was completely closed Wednesday and Thursday so we got to all hang out. We ventured outside some to walk around the neighborhood and play a bit. Thank goodness we stocked up on peeler beads because we made a lot of things being inside so much! The boys decided to sell their creations for $1 each and they plan to make a million dollars. I sure hope they do!!

The weekend was fun - Saturday was the Pinewood Derby. That deserved its' own post! Sunday we went to Church and had fun family time that included the Y and swimming. This week was really 1-1/2 work days and then an extended weekend!

It went from this....
to this in under 2 hours!
Perler bead time

When we originally got peeler beads, Eli wanted to get Cole the biggie beads so he could create too. Love it!
We printed some patterns and this was Mommy's challenge.
Perler Buzz Lightyear!!

You can see Cole's little mind working in this picture
He just HAD to turn and show his bottom - BOYS!

It was really coming down!

Playing on the power line

Our biker dude is cold - icicle from his chin!

This was scary - after we walked out of the back yard, a huge branch fell on the picnic table. Thank goodness we were out of there!
Cole's biggie peeler bead creations

Valentine's Day - It was so nice to be home on Friday and celebrate Valentine's Day in a  lazy way. =) The boys were super excited to see some goodies on the table waiting for them when they woke up. They each got a Lego set (surprise!) and a few candy items. They also got 'Kidz Bop 25' - they have been begging for that! Thankfully for us, the music isn't bad. I had a chiropractor appointment and had to run a few errands. While I was out, Tim rearranged Cole's room the way we had been talking about for a few months. It immediately transformed Cole's room into a big boy room! And best of all, it was free!!

It's Valentine's Day!!
Cole was happy with his Lego set
and so was Eli!
WE LOVE LEGOS!!
Chocolate is good too!
Can you tell Eli was excited to get the Kidz Bop cd?!
Assembly time (and it's Friday so Pop Tarts for breakfast)
Just turned Cole's bed 90 degrees and it makes it look so "big boy"
3d peeler bead airplane I made for Cole's room.

My fun Holly Aiken purse from Tim for Valentine's Day - I absolutely LOVE how retro it is!
This is a baby blanket I finished up for a friend of mine from High School.
I even got to use the custom labels Tim gave me for Christmas.
I love how it came together - so many sweet boys fabrics that represent the parents well!
My favorite picture from the Pinewood Derby on Saturday.
They cut up the Lego catalog and picked out what they want. Cole especially studies the Lego catalog....a lot!
